I watch TikTok a lot late at night when I am fighting my insomnia. Most of the stuff is just mindless stuff. Some are great humor, but now and then there is a post that digs right into my soul. I heard a young, as in high school age I believe, poet put a new twist on an old poem.
She took sticks and stones and made it about bullying and the hurt of words. I am going to condense it to the two most important lines with a slight paraphrase. Not because her words are not good, but because they are fantastic, eloquent, and poignant.
Sticks and Stone will break my bone but words will break my confidence .... But words are like tattoos engraved permanently on my soul, my very being.
This goes to the very heart of who we really are when we interact with those we speak to. Words can bully quicker, and be more damaging than most physical assaults.
