What if?

 So I was at a local Disc Gold store getting a new disc or two.  The female employee was in a conversation with another customer, a female customer.   The customer was complaining about all the AI.  She was like the AI does homework, essay writing, and math homework, and much more.  What happened to good old research, writing things, and doing your own work.   She then said she saw her friend using one for a college project.  Her roomie just answered a bunch of questions and entered the perimeters of what was needed.  Thirty minutes later she had a rough draft type thing including cites and all needed to finish the job.  Thirty minutes!

I being me, I could not withhold my mouth and said I agreed.  That is when the male owner was busy unpacking everything he had just received from UPS.   He goes on to say we are all in a giant AI program. The other three of us went silent.  Finally, the one that was complaining finally said "Um, what did you just say?"

It is like this. What if this, all of this, our lives, everything from creation or the start of our time up til now and into the future has been a giant AI program running simulations.  Each generation is a new improvement.  We all start as beta testing until our thirty's then we get updates.  

About this time the female employee goes what about all the evil and cruelty?  He just said without looking up - Bad Code.

I finally asked him to explain a little more.  He finally stopped and looked up.  He noticed my cross and said that he would put it into religious terms.

Let us say that at the top of the heap is the program Architect; Diety.   Below are the program writers - these are the guys like Jesus, Moses, Abraham, Mohammad, Buhdahh, etc.  Below that are all the coders - the saints.  Below that is the kind of lesser saint, mystics, etc:  These would be the debuggers, those that really know what goes on everywhere.   All these run our universe and we are the AI they created, their pawns or puppets whatever.  

Their issue is that just like AI, we are getting smarter and crave to run our own world. 

In a rare moment in history, I was speechless.  My brain froze going crap that makes sense in a weird way.
